As part of the preparation and setup process of the Netra Tarpan Eye rejuvenation treatment, the person gets to lie down comfortably on a massage table with an intention to relax. A soft, thick herbal ring, from black gram flour is then slipped on to both the eyes to ensure that the cavity created is leak proof. Then warm dosha specific medicated ghee is gradually instilled onto this dough ring with eyes shut partially. The level of ghee used is then drawn to coat the eyelashes while covering them fully and providing the eye area with the proper levels of hydration.
After the initial soaking, the individual is gently guided to open their eyes and blink slowly, which allows the medicated ghee to coat the entire eye surface. This movement is crucial, as it ensures even distribution of the ghee, enabling its detoxifying and hydrating properties to penetrate deeply into the eye tissues. Following this, the ghee is carefully removed after approximately 30 minutes, along with the dough rings, and a soft cotton cloth is used to gently wipe the eyes.
To complete the session, herbal smoke may be inhaled to promote further relaxation and detoxification of the eyes. Post-treatment care is also essential; it includes avoiding exposure to bright lights and refraining from any eye strain for the next few hours to let the eyes rest and fully benefit from the treatment.
