Shirovasti Ayurvedic therapy starts from the head and face with the use of warmed oil to relax the muscles and to enhance the flow of blood. After the patient is fully relaxed, they sit comfortably as a special leather cap is placed firmly on the head to avoid any spillage of the oil.
The scalp is then immersed in warm medicated oil and then the oil is drained into the cap covering the scalp. This process enables the oil to penetrate the concentration and nutrient in the scalp to nourish the underlying nerves making the person to be calm. The oil is left on the head for up to 30 to 45 minutes; this ensures that the herbs lock health benefits on your scalp.
After time period, oil is allowed to drain out slowly from this cap and thus the cap is taken off from the head. The remaining oil on the scalp is gently wiped off, basically putting the patient at a state of relaxation and regeneration. This special arrangement not only works wonders on the brain but also on the body’s health which is why this Shirovasti massage holds a special place in Ayurveda.
